The annual International Choral Festival in Montecatini Terme, Italy is a wonderful event, bringing together choirs from all over the world to perform in the beautiful Tuscan town. This past June, Georgia Festival Chorus members experienced Tuscany's rich cultural and historical heritage and participated in a variety of concerts and events.
The festivities opened with an impressive Tuscan Flag Throwing ceremony and performances by local choirs. As part of the festival we performed with other choruses at the stunning Terme Tettuccio, sang at Sunday Mass in the Basilica Santa Maria Assunta, enjoyed a banquet dinner with fellow choristers, and had a friendship concert with students at Sienna University. Plus, we explored the charming nearby cities of Florence, Lucca, San Gimignano, and Sienna. Several days were spent in the picturesque countryside, enjoying wine tastings and local cuisine.
Our tour ended with a fabulous (albeit too brief) stay at the wonderful Villa Sabolini. It was an unforgettable experience filled with music, friendship, fun, and adventure.
